*Unpopular opinion time* Ready Player One looks to be almost everything I hate about movies.

So this turned out not to be an unpopular opinion at all. Ready Player One will be to intertextuality what Battlefront 2 was to microtrasactions. The shallowness of nerd culture laid bare in such a way that future movies will

(hopefully)

have to think twice moving forward.

Those posters… I’m still not entirely convinced they’re real. They can’t be. Everything about this film is so transparently cynical I’m kind of stunned. Giving them benefit of the doubt, maybe they’re supposed to look embarrassing? Maybe..?

I read the first half of the book but gave up because I was sick of the way he talked about Art3mis.

“She was sexy, but not in a shallow girly way, she was smart and sexy. She was feisty and hard to get, but not actually uninterested.  She was unconventionally attractive, but in a way that never risked being unattractive.  Like, let me be very clear here, she was an unconventional 10/10.  If other girls were Budweiser, she was a craft IPA: the superior product for consumption by the superior man.”

(not an actual quote but not too damn far off)
