Just a simple piece in between more complex things.
I really like this – the squared-off angles, and the continuous use of black. I hardly ever see cats drawn as squares, but cats HAVE those angles, so these are fresh geometric choices.
It definitely reminds me of how everyone focuses on the lovely curve of the back when a cat sits like that, exaggerating it so that the cat’s spine is shaped like a a lowercase letter b – we are all so excited by the prospect of engaging with that lovely big curve, that we all forget about the flat part at the top of the curve. But there really is an angle there! There really is! so that’s a lovely reminder to look at the real shapes that things are, and to exaggerate different shapes for a new take.
Also, on your blog itself it was on a black background, which was 👌 , with crisp orange shapes emerging from shadow, and ALSO evoked a Greek vase
